The Yamaha MT-09 was re-introduced in the Indian market in November 2017 with a few cosmetic updates and a BS-IV compliant engine.
The bike sports a radical design language and a muscular fuel tank. At the front, the MT-09 sports a split headlamp setup that gets an LED headlamp with LED DRLs. It also gets a split LED headlamp unit, revised seat, bigger air-intake scoops and a svelte tail section. And true to its body style, the motorcycle offers an upright riding position. Powering the MT-09 is an 847cc in-line three cylinder engine that puts out 111bhp and 87.5Nm of torque. This power is transferred to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox along with an assist and slipper clutch and quick shifter for clutch less upshifts.
The electronics package on the MT-09 includes a three-position D-Mode function that lets you adjust engine power, two-mode traction control and ABS. Moreover, braking is done by twin 298mm discs up front and a 245mm disc at the rear end. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels that are suspended from 41mm inverted fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear.
The Yamaha MT-09 is offered in full black, blue with black and a white with red paint scheme. The bike faces competition from the Triumph Street Triple RS and the Kawasaki Z900.
