Ather Energy was founded in 2013 and is backed the founders of Flipkart, Tiger Global and Hero Motocorp. It has an ambitious plan: its products promise to be the smartest products to hit the market by a margin, and it also plans to set up the charging infrastructure to support its products, starting with the metros. Bangalore is first on the list, followed by Chennai and then Pune. Its first two products are scooters, the 450 and 340. On offer is a top speed of 72 kmph, a range of up to 60km and 0-40kmph in 7.3 seconds. It also offers a 7-inch display instead of a traditional instrument cluster. Paired with a phone that has the integrated app installed, they can offer onboard navigation, remote diagnostics and over-the-air updates as well.
